What to Do This Weekend: A Race, another Beer Festival, and Premier League!

The deadline for registering for GFN’s next Amazing Race is at 5:00 p.m. today. This edition of the race will take place downtown, and focus on the culture, and heritage of the Dong-gu area. Get a group of friends together (max. 4), and enjoy a night of fun, and prizes. For all the information that you need, please click on this link. Remember, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. today, and space is limited! The race will take place tomorrow, the 9th.

It’s time for FINA part II! The FINA Master’s Championships began this past Monday, and will go on until the 18th. What’s the big difference? The Master’s features competitors who are 25 years or older. They will compete in many of the same events that took place in July- swimming, diving, water polo, and more. If you didn’t get a chance to see any of the action during the championships, then you definitely want to go and see the Master’s. For details on events, and locations, please go to FINA’s website.

The beer festival at Kim, Dae-jung Convention Center during the FINA Championships was a big success. Many people enjoyed cold beer, and delicious offerings from the food trucks on site. Since it was so popular, the organizers decided to hold another one during the Master’s. Starting tonight, you’ll be able to try craft beers, and local ones as well. There will also be a large market as well where you can browse items being sold by local merchants. It will run from 1:00 p.m., until 10:00 p.m. everyday until the 18th. The Gwangju Jeonnam chapter of KOTESOL will be holding their monthly meeting today. The meetings take place at Gwangju National University of Education, and it begins at 1:45 p.m. You can expect two great presentations, that will hopefully give you some ideas that you can use in your own classroom. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet and network with fellow teachers. The meetings are free to attend, but they do encourage you to become a member. Football fans, the long wait is over! The Premier League returns this Saturday night at Speakeasy! See your favorites on the big screen, and enjoy the great drink specials that they have to offer.
