Take advantage of the day off and catch some of the events at the FINA Master’s Championships. The Master’s is a competition that features athletes who are 25 years or older. For all the details you need, please go to FINA’s website. The Master’s will end on the 18th, so don’t delay!
Friday, August 16th
I know it’s hot, but I also know a cold beer will help you get through the summer heat! The beer festival at Kim Dae-Jung Convention Center is running until Sunday, the 18th. They have a great selection of craft beers, as well as local favorites. They also have a big market where you can shop for items made by local merchants. Beer, and shopping? I know, it’s a great combination. If you need more info, please go to the Gwangju page on Facebook. The festival ends at 10:00 p.m. each night.
Another great way to cool down is to enjoy the Friday night specials at Tequilaz! You can begin by having one (or two!) of their delicious tacos for only 3,000 won each. Match them up with all you can drink draft beer for only 15,000 won. If you don’t like beer, try some of their unlimited rail cocktails for only 20,000 won. All specials run from 9:00 p.m., until midnight, and are cash only please. If you need more details, please go to their Facebook page.
Saturday, August 17th
If you have kids then you definitely want to check out some of the local water parks this weekend. For some of them, this will be your last weekend to do so. There are a couple located all throughout Gwangju, so to see which one is best for you, click on this link to JD’s article on the blog. Most of the parks have free admittance for kids, and it’s very cheap for the parents.
It was an exciting first weekend of the Premier League with some big scores (sorry Chelsea fans) that were unexpected. Speakeasy will be back at it again tonight showing the games on the big screen. Come down and root for your team, and enjoy some of their great drink specials as well. The first game will kickoff at 8:30 p.m. To find out exactly what’s going on tonight, and what else is happening, please go to their Facebook page.
Sunday, August 18th
Need a great way to end your weekend? Why don’t you try the Sunday dance class sponsored by the GPP? It will go from 3:00 p.m., until 5:00 p.m. You do not need to be an experienced dancer to join the class, all levels are welcome. If you need more info, please check out their Facebook event page.
