May 5th is Children’s day and Gwangju has prepared a series of festivals and events in celebration of the day. Some events finish on 5th but most of them continue through the weekend.
The ACC will hold a celebratory event, organized by the ACC Children and a Local Children’s Center Gwangju Support Headquarters, and will be filled with various events including cultural performances and experience programs that are fun for the whole family.
In addition, the National Gwangju Museum will host a special trip to the museum from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering various traditional experience programs for children. The Gwangju Museum of Art will showcase various artistic programs, such as a ceramic and natural dying event, face painting, and balloon-making activities throughout this week.
Meanwhile, The KIA Tigers will hold a Family Week event for their fans at home from May 4th to 6th and from May 8th to 10th at the Gwangju-KIA champions Field. On Children’s Day, May 5th, the team will hold a painting competition for young fans. On the same day, the team’s coach Kim Ki Tae and captain Kim Joo Chan will participate in an autograph signing event with kids.
The 2018 ACE Festival will be held at the Kim Dae Jung Convention Center from Saturday for 2 days. The festival is to support youth startups and to help boost youth culture development.
The festival has been organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the City of Gwangju as a promotional event for 2018 ACE Fair for the first time this year.
Amateur artists in cartoons will run a market and some 14 companies will present their goods while other entertaining events such as magic shows, parades and food trucks will be available as well.
