Since they are not as active yet, take the time to gear yourself and your house up for them. In recent years there have been increases instances of mosquito borne diseases so please take care. Use some part of your weekend to start stocking up on essential mosquito repellent supplies.

According to news reports Jeollanamdo’s Health & Environment Research Institute had already recorded the first appearance in our province of culex mosquitos this year on April 3rd in Wando.

The culex mosquito is responsible for the spread of Japanese encephalitis, a virus that may cause inflammation of the brain leading to permanent or fatal brain damage.

The Korean Center for Disease Control issued nationwide Japanese encephalitis alerts  as the first discovery of such mosquitoes for the year was made in Busan on Sunday, April 1st.

Public Health and Environment Research Institute officials advise taking precautions to avoid getting bitten during mosquito season.


Coils – These are great for outdoors but can be too smoky for indoor use



Liquid repellent with timer ~ plugs into wall and you can set it for intervals of 8 – 10 – 15 hours.



Electric mats – great for leaving on overnight when you are sleeping. Depending on the size of your room or home you have to replace the mat daily.


Airnet – for areas with good ventilation



Protect yourself when doing outdoor activities with spray
