Scorching heat will continue in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo today.
Gwangju and Naju, Yeonggwang and Hampyeong of Jeollanamdo are under heat wave warnings while heat wave advisories are issued on 14 cities and counties in the province excluding Shinan, Mokpo, Yeosu, Goheung and Wando.
A heat wave warning is issued when daytime highs are expected to reach over 35 degrees Celsius for longer than 2 days while standard for a heat wave advisory is set at 33 degrees.
Accompanying the heat wave, the UV index and ozone levels will fluctuate in and out of bad ranges.
Try to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities for the day, especially young children and the elderly. If you have pets do also take precaution to keep them hydrated and cool. Put on sunscreen when you head out and don’t forget your parasol.

For the daytime highs, the region will have mercury rise to low to mid 30s. Gwangju will top out at 35 degrees Celsius and Yeosu will see a high of 28.
