The Gwangju-Jeonnam chapter of KOTESOL will be having their last meeting of 2018. There will be two interesting presentations that will hopefully give you some ideas that you can use in your classroom. The chapter meetings are also a great way to meet and network with other teachers. Whether you’re an academy teacher, or work at at a university, there’s something for all to learn and discover. It will all begin at 1:45 p.m. on the campus of Gwangju National University of Education (GNUE). You don’t have to be a member to attend, but they do encourage you to become one. For all the complete info that you need, please follow this link. You can also go to their Facebook page for details.

If you didn’t catch the GPP’s production of The Wiz last weekend then don’t worry because you still have three chances left! The Wiz is an urban retelling of the classic children’s story, The Wizard of Oz. The music and dancing is lively, and the cast of local artists transports you to the land of Oz. There are two shows today at 3:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. There will be a final performance on Sunday, December 9th at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the door, so please come out and support our local theater scene. For any more information that you need, please go to the Facebook event page here. The play is being performed on the campus of GNUE.

The Wiz isn’t the only chance to hear live music today in Gwangju. Tonight Speakeasy will welcome back The Monday Feeling to their stage. The Monday Feeling has played a couple of times here in Gwangju, and they always rock out with a collection of covers, and original songs. Local faves Jimmy and Joel will be the opening act. Of course live music at Speakeasy also means great drink specials. It will be a fantastic night of music, so don’t be one of the people who regret not going to the show! The music will start sometime after 10:30 p.m., but don’t forget their happy hour specials which run from 7:00 p.m., until 10:00 p.m. For more details, please go to their Facebook page.

I know there are a lot of gamers in town, so put your skills to the test with a FIFA 2019 tournament at Speakeasy. For this tournament there are no rules, and it will only cost 5,000 won to enter.  The winner of the tourney will take the pot, and there will be drink specials for all to enjoy. If you need any more info, please go to the Facebook event page.
