It may be hot in Gwangju, but it’s nice and cool inside Tequilaz! The Friday specials will keep everybody happy. Start off with some of their delicious tacos which are only 3,000 won each. Enjoy music? Want to have fun, and win free stuff? I’m sure a lot of you do, and the place to go is Speakeasy for their Name That Tune trivia! It’s very easy to play, and it doesn’t cost you anything. All you have to do is listen to a snippet of music, and guess either the song, or the artist. If you win, you’ll get a chance to get some free drinks! A great place to check out in town is the Gwangju Science Museum! They have a lot of different exhibit halls, including one for kids, and a special video display. There will also be special programs going on during the summer, such as a science magic show, and an event about sharks. While you’re there, check out their VR display! Even if you’re not a big fan of science, you’ll find something to enjoy at the Gwangju Science Museum. For information in English, please follow this link (the main page is in Korean).
If you’ve seen all the big summer blockbusters already, then you might want to check out Gwangju’s oldest theater for something different. The Gwangju Cinema is the home for foreign films, independents, documentaries, and more. Currently playing is The Square, which stars Elizabeth Moss (The Handmaiden’s Tale). The rooftop patio is open at Loft 28! You can chill out with friends and enjoy the view. While you’re there, enjoy some of their delicious, home cooked food. It’s pretty popular among the residents of Gwangju! With great drinks, and favorite music being played, Loft 28 is a top place to go to in town.
