For all the Americans out there, The First Alleyway doesn’t want you to miss Thanksgiving! They’ll be having a turkey dinner special tonight, and tomorrow (while supplies last). You’ll be able to enjoy delicious turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, gravy, and peas (gotta get your greens!). It will feel just like Thanksgiving, except you won’t have to deal with any annoying relatives. There will be no reservations for this event, so it is first come, first served. For any other details that you need, please go to the Facebook event page here.

If you’re looking for a place to start off your Friday night, I may have a suggestion. Gwangju residents know that Tequilaz is the place to be for their Friday specials. You can enjoy their famous tacos for only 3,000 won each. You’re going to need something to wash those tacos down with, so how about unlimited draft beer for 12,000 won? If you prefer cocktails, then you can get unlimited rail cocktails for only 20,000 won. All specials run from 9:00 p.m., until midnight, and are cash only please. If you need more info, then please go to their Facebook page.

There are also the usual exhibits and areas that you can explore at the ACC. To find out more about the special anniversary events, please go to their website. The GIC will busy today with their usual Saturday schedule. First you can check out their weekly art class, which will be about basic character design for comics. The class will start at 12:45 p.m., and go until 3:00 p.m. It will only cost 5,000 won, and all materials will be provided for you. If you need more details, please go to their Facebook page. The class will be led by Raquib Apu.  While you’re there, you can also see how you can donate your artwork for a community show happening next month. Also happening Saturday is another edition of the GIC Talk series. Today’s lecture will focus on multiculturalism in Korea. Wilson Melbostad, a human rights lawyer from America, will be talking about this important subject. The talk will begin at 4:00 p.m., and go for about an hour. For more info about the talk, please go to their Facebook page here. You can also get details about both of these events and more by going to the GIC’s own site.

With the weather getting colder it seems like a great idea to stay indoors and catch some live music! One of the best venues for bands in Gwangju, Speakeasy, will be featuring two great acts tonight. Vincit Omnia will be back in town, with Heavy Gauge as the opening act. If you’ve seen V.O. before, then you know you’re in for a good time. Besides the great music going on you know there will be some terrific  drink specials going on as well. The music kicks off at 10:30 p.m., but don’t forget about their happy hour specials which run from 7:00 p.m., until 10:00 p.m. For more details about the show, please go to Speakeasy’s Facebook page.

Don’t Forget!

There is one week left until The Wiz premieres in Gwangju! To get tickets to the latest GPP production, click on this link to their Facebook page. We’ll have more info about the show next week!
