Trivia is back at Speakeasy tonight! If you want to take part and win some money, it’s quite easy to do so. All you have to do is get your team together, or you can find one to join when you get there. The 2nd place team will get there money back, and the first place team will win the rest. There will be 6-8 rounds of various topics, and it will only cost you 5,000 won to play. Make sure you get there early to also take advantage of their happy hour specials! 3,000 won Red Rocks, and 4,000 won Jameson are just some of the specials going on from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Get some friends together and come on down to Speakeasy to try and win some cash, and enjoy great drink specials. Gwangju’s only weekly open mic show takes place tonight at Loft 28! If you would like to perform, all you have to do is bring your own instrument and Loft will provide the rest. Do you need a little more encouragement? All performers will receive a free drink. Open mic night is a terrific chance to hear some of the local talent that we have in our city. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out some of the delicious food that they have. Their Jamaican inspired dishes are favorites among many Gwangju residents. For more info on open mic, as well as other events at Loft, please go to their Facebook page here. The show begins at 11:00 p.m.

You might not know it, but in Korea animation is big business. Some of the most popular animated shows, such as The Simpsons, are made in Korea. This Saturday the GIC Talk series will focus on animation in Korea. The lecture will be given by two local animators, Chris Rodgers and Raquib Hasan Apu, and they will talk about their jobs in the animation field here in Korea. The talk will begin at 4:00 p.m., and it will go for about an hour. There is no charge to attend the talk. If you need more information then you can go to the GIC’s website, or you can also go to the Talk series Facebook page.

There are also new exhibits that have opened up that you can also see there. For more info about what’s happening at the ACC, please go to their website.

It was another great turnout at the animal shelter last weekend, and the group that volunteers wants to see you out there! If you are interested in walking and playing with dogs at a local shelter, then please check out their Facebook page. They meet downtown, and then from there they go on to the shelter.
